Both literally and figuratively - when it comes to the indie game industry. Seemingly every day, we're seeing a new title catered to the technology released, each offering players a new and unique experience.
The latest indie game to rock the VR scene is Happiness Maze, an immersive and enriching title that centers around the law of attraction and manifestation. This game is an immersive coaching experience. Your coach is with you along every step of your journey, from start to finish.
In Happiness Maze, players start by planting a seed and giving it water. They identify what makes them happy and cultivate that happiness through different experiences throughout the game. The more they manifest their desired emotions, the more their seed will grow. Adventures that can be undertaken in the process include several 'experiences' like the temple, where players can turn cards over in hopes of unlocking a lucky spell. They can also engage in various mindfulness tasks designed to bolster their progress, including Ho'oponopono and gratitude exercises. Ho'oponopono is a spiritual practice that originated from Hawaii that involves learning to heal all things by accepting "Total Responsibility" for everything that surrounds us.
Happiness Maze was designed to be both a fun and positive experience, with the goal of helping players manifest their desires and lead happier lives. The title originated from its creators' experience in a happiness workshop - they wanted to distill what they had learned into an enjoyable and easy-to-understand medium. And what better way to do that than through VR?
Happiness Maze was built for Altspace VR, a leading live and virtual event platform that empowers artists, brands, and businesses to design meaningful experiences that foster community and connection.
Sophie de Groot and Dana-Maria Faneker are the two main drivers of the project, Sophie an intern at CaptainVR, and Dana-Maria, the founder of CaptainVR. Together, they used their game design, art, and psychology skills to create Happiness Maze. According to them, the game is a relevant tool for today's increasingly digital world.
In a time where it's easy to feel disconnected and alone, Happiness Maze offers players a chance to connect with themselves and others in a fun and meaningful way. Contact CaptainVR today if you're interested in learning more about the game or are interested in a pilot.
